Don’t waste your time.
‘Dormant’ accounts (or Door mouse as one of our clients calls them) are more trouble than they are worth.
Seriously why are you taking time out of your day to deal with an admin task for a company that isn’t doing anything?
Your best bet is to call us now and get us to deal with it for you.
We’ll make sure a set of accounts are prepared, OK’d with you and then submitted to HMRC and Companies House on time.
Problem solved!
What are ‘dormant accounts’?
Dormant company accounts are annual accounts that can only be filed by companies that are exempt from audit (ie. a dormant company).
What is a Dormant company?
Your company is classed as ‘dormant’ by Companies House if there have been no ‘significant’ transactions in the last financial year.
What are significant transactions I hear you cry
Significant transactions do not include:
filing fees paid to Companies House
penalties for late filing of accounts
money paid for shares when the company was incorporated
Dormant companies that qualify as ‘small’ do not need to be audited but they do need to put in a return to Companies House and HMRC.
As soon as the business starts trading then it automatically moves onto standard rules for limited companies.
What are the filing requirements for a dormant company?
You must file your confirmation statement (previously annual return) and annual accounts with Companies House even if your limited company is:
dormant for Corporation Tax
dormant according to Companies House
But if your company is dormant according to Companies House and also qualifies as ‘small’ you:
can file ‘dormant accounts’ instead
don’t have to include an auditor’s report with your accounts.
We have a standard package for dormant businesses.
You can have peace of mind that this non-value-add activity has been dealt with.
We’ll make sure that your accounts are correctly filed and that you don’t end up with a penalty.
That’s got to be more cost-effective than doing it yourself!

How long will Companies House take to approve my accounts?

What penalties will I face if I miss my company accounts filing deadline?
if you miss your company accounts filing deadline with Companies House, you may face penalties and other consequences. The penalties are designed to encourage timely filing and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
